Blue Frog Studio was charged with re-energising this challenging home for a couple who loves entertaining. Altogether, the project comprised the re-location & new design of the kitchen, five bathrooms, study, laundry, media room and flooring throughout. The home enjoys the most amazing views so top of the priority list was to make sure every layout decision maximised the vista. In addition, a major challenge was to work within the extensive existing sandstone on the property.

To achieve this incredible result, the kitchen was completely moved to its new location. This has resulted in the desired effect but created a challenge in how we would manage the ducting of the rangehood and make the space work with the existing views, internal stairs and abundant sandstone.

Special consideration was given to the layout which features two separate work triangles. The main functions are carried out in work triangle A while the section in work triangle B was deliberately made a lower height and open under to create the wonderful ‘floating’ effect to be more like built-in furniture.

Deep timber matte tones work perfectly with the timber floor and provide a natural, luxurious finish. The minimalist design includes large storage zones with a concealed small appliance station and integrated appliances. Clever layout choices meant the ability to include space for a casual seating area at one end of the island.
